BANES Member of Youth Parliament elections

14th November 2017 - Published Date

The Bath and North East Somerset (BANES) Member of Youth Parliament elections are taking place soon! A Member of Youth Parliament (MYP) is a young person aged 11-18 years who is elected by their peers to represent their views on a local, regional and national level. The role of MYP provides an opportunity for a young person to become involved in a variety of events, campaigns and projects, develop a working relationship with their local MPs and attend the House of Commons to debate the topic for a national youth-led campaign.

To stand as a candidate for the role of BANES MYP, a young person must attend the MYP training day on Saturday 25 November at Keynsham Community Space. This day will involve workshops on: the role of the MYP, representation, debating and creating a manifesto. From this day, eight candidates will be selected for the election. The candidate with the most votes during the election will be the new BANES MYP.

Interested young people must complete and email/post the self-nomination form (link to download below) to be able to come to the training day by Friday 17 November.
