Volunteers needed for Bath Open Christmas

13th November 2017 - Published Date

Bath Open Christmas provides a freshly cooked, hot Christmas Dinner to anyone in the Bath area who would otherwise be alone at Christmas. Around 160 guests are catered for in the dining hall of Kingswood School, with additional meals delivered to those who are housebound and to Julian House. Festive singing, entertainment, special guests and a present from Father Christmas are also enjoyed before guests are driven home – and it’s all provided free of charge.

The day runs smoothly due to the generous support of Kingswood School and around 200 volunteers who act as drivers, waiting staff, kitchen helpers, servers and in other support roles. Each volunteer is also provided a free Christmas lunch in return. Originally conceived by Bath Churches Together the event is now independently run by a committee of volunteers.

If you are interested in helping with setting up and taking down, laying tables, food preparation, driving, parking stewards, meet and greet, washing up, drinks prep and service, waiting or hosting tables, Bath Open Christmas would love to hear from you. Some roles may need only a couple of hours, others can be longer, and experienced volunteers can apply for Supervisor roles. All are mostly assigned before the Volunteers Meeting held in early December.
