"I ran my own business feeding the miners in Combe Down and when this finished, I found myself unemployable due to ill health issues. I reached rock bottom and in order to keep active, I volunteered at The Rose Cottage Café. [which provides good quality low-cost food for people in Twerton and aims to build a community which welcomes all].
I am the Chef and this involves picking up supplies, kitchen management, preparing and cooking meals for the huge variety of people who come to the café.
I love people and I love food. I really enjoy seeing how people develop and grow over time at Rose Cottage. It is a little oasis of calm and nurture. Everyone gets the same five-star treatment whether they are customers or volunteers. I have stuff I can share and there are many people who can benefit. Volunteering at Rose Cottage Café is the most content I have ever been."
